Synagro’s operation in Stamford is producing Granulite® fertilizer pellets – a blender-grade product – and markets it in the state of New York. The biosolids from the Stamford Wastewater Treatment Plant are heat-dried through an Andritz drum drying system. The material is dried to less than 6% moisture and formed into pellets. Heat-dried biosolids pellets processed at the Stamford Biosolids Dryer Facility meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 503 Standards for Class A, Exceptional Quality Biosolids, suitable for land application.
