City of Cumberland

Designed, constructed, currently operating and being maintained, this City-owned facility is under a long-term contract.

The City of Cumberland’s biosolids production facility is small in size, but it has provided big benefits to the City. Its biosolids production approach enabled the City to discontinue the practice of disposing of sludge through an increasingly cost-prohibitive land application program due to the ever-increasing federal/state regulations. The Class A biosolids product is beneficially used as a renewable ingredient in natural fertilizer blends.

A portion of the project was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment/Stimulus Grant Act.
